December with Bizzy Bec's Papercraft

Summer is here and the weather is warming up. I love going to the beach and this collection of red rubber seashell themed stamps will be perfect for so many scrapbooking pages as well as cards I know my set will be well used!
The  'Seashell' stamp collection is by Darkroom Door and is available by clicking the link here.
I began this card by cutting a scrap of cream Bazzill cardstock and adding blue watercolour paint to add colour to the centre of the card.
Next I distressed the edges of the cardstock.
On separate cream card I used Rich Cocoa Memento ink to stamp out the images. The images were quick to cut out and I love how they have shading- this means you will have dimension in your colouring even if you only use one colour.
I used foam tape to adhere the shells to the background. I curved the shell sand varied the height /layers of the foam to add dimension.

I hope you have some time during this busy month to get some crafting time in, Jackiex

I had lots of fun colouring this gorgeous mermaid digi from Broken Fairy Designs. It is called Jelly Walk and you can find the link here.

I coloured the image with Copic markers and then added some Waterfall Stickles over the top for a little bit of sparkle. The edge of the card is inked with Mowed Lawn distress ink and the die in the background is by Spellbinders. I added little pearls to the edges.
I hope you have time to make something wonderful for this fortnight's challenge at
TTPH- Add Embellies.

Fox On A Branch- Bizzy Becs

Looking back over my blog, I noticed a few foxes. I love the colour of their coats but they have not been welcome visitors to our chook yard!
Today's card for Bizzy Becs features a stamped image called Fox On A Branch from Wild Rose Studio. You can order it  from the store here.
I coloured the image using Copic markers.

The Hi sentiment was from the Phrase Set One by Spellbinders.
The other die I have used is a set of trees (turned sideways to look like branches). It is DIE310-WW fom Impression Obsession. Bec stocks items from both of these companies in her store so just contact her for availability.
I hope you will join in the November challenge where Anything Goes. The link is here.

TTPH challenges with Fabrika Fantasy

I have just loved sitting down and spending some time colouring the Werewolves Chieftain Colouring Page from Fabrika Fantasy. They have lots of detail in many of their digi images. I chose to make my image into a card ready for a friend who loves the supernatural.

I coloured the image using Copic markers and some touches of metallic pen. I have been thinking this would be nice to do using some flower soft in the foliage so may have another play!
I hope you get a chance to check out the store and then enter the challenge over at Through The Purple Haze. It's a  favourite colour combo challenge this fortnight.

Spring is in the Air

This stamp set from IndigoBlu makes me think of Spring with its beautiful collection of flowers leaves and winged creatures as well as some sentiments. They have lovely detail and are made of red rubber which means they can withstand heat and lots of different media well.
I used masking for this card making a mask for the bird and large flower to create a mini scene. I use stickynotes  for my masks  so that they stay in place. The thin paper  these are made of also makes them perfect.

The stamp set "Live, Laugh, Love" is available to buy from Bec's store following the link here. She also has some great Christmas stamps available to pre-order.
Don't forget to enter your creations in the monthly "Anything Goes" challenge here, too.
Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting, Jackie x

Hush Little Bunny Card for Bizzy Becs

Well, life on the home front has been a bit more hectic than normal but I am glad I've managed to have some time to create this month. I had some great new products arrive in the mail from Bec's store included some Gorjuss girl stamps. I used one of these for my inspiration piece this month.
The stamp set is called Hush Little Bunny and the frame, flowers, hearts and image are all from the set. I stamped the images using Archival Ink and stamped the flowers several times to create a ground level. The image was coloured using Prismacolor Pencils-I used lots of light layers to build up some depth. Highlights were with white gel pen and black for the eyes.
Flowers, lace and a bit of bling finished off my card.
I really like how big these stamp sets are- they are great for beginning colourists.

I hope you find time to enter the challenge this month for a chance to win a mystery stamp or die and if you are in need of more supplies don't forget all of the wonderful dies and stamps in Bec's Store.
Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting,
Jackie x

Peaceful/Harmony Challenge-TTPH

I have to say that foxes are right up there with owls in my favourite animals list...so how lucky was I to have the opportunity to cover this cute pair! This gorgeous digi called "Fox Couple" is from Sweet Escape. You can visit the store here.
I coloured them in using Copic markers and chose patterned paper and embellishment in Autumn tones as this time of year always seem peaceful to me in the wind down to Winter.

I hope you will enter the new challenge this fortnight at Through The Purple Haze.

Peacock Card for Bizzy Becs

The July Challenge has started and as always the theme is Anything Goes.
I have bought the  Feathers Collection Darkroom Door rubber stamps to experiment with and this card was my first creation.
I really love peacock feathers and decided to create the colour in them by making a background on gloss card. I did this using Brushos (watercolour crystals). These are great fun to use if you get a chance to play with them. I just sprinkled them on the card and spritzed with lots of water. The colours I used were Emerald Green and Cobalt Blue.
I got rid of the pools of excess colour using a sheet of watercolour paper (This I will save for another project later on).
I dried the paper with my heat gun and then stamped the peacock feather using Black Archival Ink.

I inked around the edge of the paper with brown ink and then put some Cosmic Shimmer Glue for Gilding flakes on a piece of foam so that I could add it to the feather stamp. I stamped glue around the edges and then rubbed Gold Gilding flakes over the images.
The border is a Tile Works die by Spellbinders. I rubbed glue around the edges of it and then rubbed the same flakes into the black card.
I added some remnant of different textured wool to the bottom of the main image before layering everything up.
I am hoping to experiment more with this stunning stamp set  for the middle of the month.
What will you enter into the challenge?
Happy crafting,
Jackie x

If Dogs Could Talk- Bizzy Becs

The Taylored Expressions die and stamp set "If Dogs Could Talk" arrived in my mail box a few weeks ago and I had a chance to play with them over the weekend. I really love all the different expressions you can add to the dog. I think I will have to make up a card using each one. This is my first time of using Taylored Expressions stamps and I have to say they stamp beautifully with a nice clear image. Bec has a great range of these in her store at terrific prices.
I used Poppy Stamps "Celebrations Balloons" Dies and Die-Namics "Instaframe" die on my card.
The images were stamped with Black Archival Ink and coloured with Copic markers.
I lifted the frame up and some of the balloons using double sided foam tape.

I hope I have given you some inspiration!

The June challenge has begun over at Bizzybec's Challenge Blog. There is always a great monthly prize from the store. For June there will to be a lucky draw for the month for purchases from the store, too. Click the link here.
This month I have used a Gorjuss girl stamp colouring it with Copic markers. I then cut around the image using a die from the Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles Collection.
I love the embossed background created with Taylored Expression's Raindrop Embossing Folder. Bec has great prices on these and I confess I had to buy the whole collection!
All paper pieces are inked with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.
It is stocktake time at the moment in the store and in this section there are many mulberry flowers similar to those I have used in my card.

I hope you are inspired to pop over to the store and check out the great range of products at terrific prices.

I coloured the digi image using Copic markers.
I used a die from the Spellbinders Gold Labels 4 to cut around the image and then inked the edges using Gathered Twigs Distress Stain.
The black floral background is a Fiskars die which cuts and embosses beautifully.

May Inspiration for Bizzy Becs

I just loved the look of this cute stamp from Stamping Bella when I saw it in the Bizzy Becs store.
It is called "tiny townie Penelope has a pencil". The Hi sentiment is a separate stamp so you can use the image with other sentiments.
I stamped this rubber stamp using black Memento ink then coloured it using Copic markers.
I used my set of Memory Box Stitched Layer Circles to cut out the image and a complimentary backing circle before mounting them onto sanded core card embossed with a Sizzix Tim Holtz notepad folder.

Looking forward to seeing all the wonderful entries over at the challenge blog for Bizzy Becs where a great monthly prize is on offer.

Easel Card for Bizzy Becs

When I saw this stamp in the BizzyBec's Store I knew I wanted to add it to my collection. It is so cute and easy to match up with different papers by switching the colour of the icecream.
It is made of rubber so it's nice and durable.

I stamped the image onto blending card and then coloured it with Copic markers:
Pig: E51, E53, E11, E57
Ice Cream: RV63, RV52, RV02, YR21, E33, E17
Background: W2-5, B0000

Papers were from my stash. I fussy cut the chevrons and inked the edges of all paper with Spun Sugar Distress Ink. I cut out the image using Spellbinders Scalloped Oval Nesting Dies and then added a doily behind the die cut.
The sentiment came with the image and I added foam mounting tape to the sentiment piece to support the card once opened.

The Open Road- Bizzy Bec's Challenge

My card today features stamps from Darkroom Door's Classic Motorcycles Collection . There are five bikes and captions in the set so heaps to choose from!

I started by die cutting a tag and then inking it with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. I stamped the image using black Archival Ink and then added some twine to the tag.
The background used an Alterations embossing folder. I used core card so that I could sand it back and have some colour variation. The other side is page out of a map book.
I had some bronze metal corners from Bizzy Bec's Store and decided to make cogs to match these. I cut them from black cardstock using two different Memory Box Dies- Steampunk Corner and
Antique Gear Set. Bec is able to order these in for you from the store link here. They have had gilding wax rubbed over them to make them look metallic.
Don't forget you can make your own paper creation and add it to Bizzy Bec's April Challenge by clicking the link here- you could win a mystery die!

April Challenge at Bizzy Bec's

My collection of Darkroom Door stamps is steadily growing. They are beautifully detailed red rubber stamps and Bec is able to order them in for you. I like how they all have their own storage case and you can see the contents on the cover. They are also foam mounted so all you have to do is cut them out and start stamping.
Today I have played with the set called Classic Motorcycles. Both the sentiment and the bike can be found here.
I stamped them onto watercolour paper using Black Archival Ink and then coloured the image using distress ink ( I simply stamp some colour from the ink pads onto an acrylic block and then pick up the colour with a water brush.).

My rusty cog background was created by running a piece of card covered in metal tape through my Cuttlebug using a cog embossing folder. I then painted the card with gesso and left it to dry. Once dry I put alcohol ink on the gesso but distress stains also work. Let it dry again and then sand back some of the coloured gesso.
I am planning on playing with this set some more for my Inspiration Post this month so please stop by again if you'd like to see what I come up with.
Happy Crafting and I hope you all enter the challenge her this month for Bizzy Bec's Store,

There is a new challenge at Polkadoodles starting today- Cream and Sugar. You can enter here.
Looking forward to seeing lots of gorgeous cream, pink, brown and white coloured creations.
I was torn between so many of the collections at the Polkadoodles store this week. I decided to make another cat creation using the new Work and Play 12 collection. It is available as a CD or digital download. You can also buy the cat as a digi download here.
I coloured the cat using Prismacolors. The sentiment and flowers are from the Work and Play 12 collection too and the Wooden paper is from Work and Play 10- Country Life. I have already used this collection so much.

All elements have been inked with Brushed Corduroy distress Ink.
I have used two sets of Spellbinders dies- Beaded Circles and Foliage.
Pearls, twine and Pink bling are from my stash.
I think I will keep this card for my Mum's birthday.
Absolutely loving playing with this collection!

Journalling Cards for Bizzy Bec's Store

I have a shoebox full of holiday snaps all printed and ready to create Lifebook pages with. I have lots of Lifebook journaling cards too but I really wanted to create some from scratch to make some special pages.
Darkroom Door have some great location rubber stamp sets and for the one's shown below, I used the NewYork collection found here.

To make this card, I started with a piece of watercolour paper (6''x4'') and placed a Tim Holtz star stencil on it then dabbed over the stars with my clear embossing inkpad. Remove the stencil and sprinkle clear embossing powder on the ink. Tap off excess and heat paper to melt the powder. Spray with Distress Sprays in Candied Apple and Faded Jeans (the stains would work just as well and Bec stocks these in store- please contact the store here to see if she can get the stencil or sprays in for you.)

This card is on watercolour paper and I stamped the image with Black Archival Ink before colouring using my Distress Inks. I use an acrylic stamping block as my palette and stamp colour onto it for painting with using a water brush or paintbrush and water.

These two cards were made by stamping the dark image first using Archival Ink. I then loaded up my acrylic block withal the other little stamps in the set before removing the one used for the first print. Load up the stamps with ink again, stamp first on scrap paper and then stamp on the journaling card. The image will be light enough to write over (that's my plan!) I lightly rubbed brushed corduroy ink over the cards once I had distressed the edges.
Now to make time to put together some Life Book pages for New York.
I hope I have given you a few ideas,
Happy Crafting, Jackie x

Use WarmColours Challenge- TTPH

One of my favourite materials to use in paperwork is old book pages. I love their thickness and they are so cheap. My husband is used to me scouring fetes and book stalls running my hands over the pages...he is even a pretty good look out for me!!
Well, when I saw this magical  digi from Fabrica Fantasy  called Wise Dragon The perfect background had to be...you guessed it!
I coloured my dragon in warm colours to keep with the challenge theme and used Copic Markers for my colouring- lightly brushing a beige shade over each object to keep a warm hue. I added orange Spica Pen to make my dragon sparkle and the pieces were all edged with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. Paper, charms and ribbon were all from my stash- I have lots of orange scraps due to my Halloween addiction!!

I hope you will play along with the new challenge at Through The Purple Haze and pull out your warm colours.

Work and Play 12 Tags-Polkadoodles

There are some great new digital collections at Polkadoodles this month including another Work and Play Collection. I have been playing with the Inventor image and made some tags for my bargain $3 vase in the shape of a chemistry flask...how perfect was that find? I think I may have to get some more and fill them with sweets for some of my Science loving friends.
These tags were easy to make with the design sheets from the collection, some distress ink, foamtape and glossy accents. A nice quick and effective project.

Gorjuss Card for Bizzy Becs

March is the start ofa new challenge at Bizzy Bec's Challenge Blog and there lots of new, scrummy products to check out in the store!
I wanted to challenge myself to try something new and so stamped out the Gorjuss Girl image using Archival Ink on heavy 300gsm watercolour paper- I like thick paper as it doesn't warp too much.
I used a water brush and distress ink to colour the image. I just put some colour on an acrylic block and picked it up using the water brush. I kept a heat gun handy to dry patches of the picture as I worked so the colours didn't run.
The image was cut out using the Memory Box Stitched Circles Layer Dies.
Other items from the store I used include:

Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge- Polkadoodles

It has been ages since I attempted a tic-tac- toe craft challenge. I forgot how much fun they are. This fortnight at Polkadoodles you have the chance to create something using the grid on the challenge blog here.

I have used the Serenity Collection to create my card (wings). You can find the collection here if you like the digi and papers I have used .
The digi is available as a stand alone too here.
The flowers have little mushroom charms amongst them- I simply snipped off the loops at the top.
Lots of dies in the background including:
Tattered Lace-Ornate Leaves
Cheery Lynn- Doiley
Memory Box- Butterflies
I have used Picked Raspberry Distress Ink on the edges of the paper and coloured the image using Copic markers.
As a final touch the image has Waterfall Stickles on her wings and the pink pearls add a touch of bling as well as echoing the polkadots in the background paper.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you get time to join in the challenge...I always love seeing the entries and get lots of good ideas from other people's creations.

Bizzy Becs- February

This is my first post as part of Bizzy Bec's design team. I have had a play with a collection of rubber stamps from Darkroom Door called Wildflowers Vol 2.
I created the background using distress stains and a few spritzes of water on a craft mat before smooshing a piece of watercolour paper in the mixture.
After drying with a heat gun I stamped the flowers to create layers using Library Green Archival Ink and then Black Archival Ink in the foreground.
The die used behind the words is by Crafts Too and is available in Bizzy Bec's store here.

There are heaps of wonderful dies and stamps available at the store.

Polkadoodles- Love and Romance

There is a new challenge at Polkadoodles just in time for Valentine's Day. I have chosen to use the new Sticks and Bones Collection to make my card. It is nice to see something a little different and it has enough elements for a range of projects. As with all the collections, you will be spoilt for choice for images, embellishments, sentiments and papers.

I coloured in my image using the following Copic colours:
Leaves and Eyes: YG61, YG63, YG67, YG97
Skin: E51, E53, E93, T3
Clothes: Y08, Y38, YR27, W10
Bones, Hair and Arrow Head: T3, T4, T6, T9, W10
Rocks and Wood: E55, E27, E34

Don't forget the images are also available pre coloured which I find handy for when I am running short of time.
I printed off a stack of pages and then sat and cut them out when the TV was on. I made a stepper card and covered it in papers from the collection then went to town layering up the elements until I was happy with them.

Thanks for stopping by- I wonder what you will make for the Love and Romance challenge this fortnight at the Polkadoodles Challenge Blog.

Polkadoodles Winter Birthday Challenge

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog. I have had a little chuckle to myself over the new Polkadoodles Challenge theme because the weather in Australia is anything but wintery at the moment!
Where we live we don't see snow either but I think of white and snow when I think of Winter and hence my choices for my card.
