13 Days of Halloween- Altered Item

Feeling a bit sad that this is my last post for The 13 Days of Halloween but I have to say it has been an absolute blast meeting the challenges every few days over at http://simplybettystamps.blogspot.com.au/.
Betty and Corinne have kept all of us on our toes and while it is disappointing there were not more fans competing with each contest I hope all of the 'princesses' gave some inspiration to Betty's fans.
I have certainly enjoyed seeing everyone's different take on each challenge!
For my last piece I have made an altered canvas. I started by using impasto paste and a stencil to create a textured tree background that tied in with the image. I painted it with brown acrylic paint and then rubbed Emerald Treasured Gold over the trees. Old book paper was placed behind the image ...appropriate backing for Poe! I coloured the image in with Copic markers and then went to town adding chiboard, bling, some of my favourite creepy hands, a spider and some Prima Halloween sprigs. The words were from a Carta Bella chipboard sheet.
I hope you have enjoyed stopping by and perhaps some of you will stop by at Betty's blog and enter this last contest and win yourself a Halloween prize!

13 Days of Halloween- Howling At The Moon!

What will I do once Halloween is over? This post is the second last one for The Princess of Halloween Challenge over at http://simplybettystamps.blogspot.com/ . Today our challenge was to add texture to our card using fuzz, fur or feathers. I chose to add fur in the way of my coloured image and then created a background full of felt stars and a moon.
the image today is from Simply Betty Stamps Teen Scenes Halloween 2012 Collection 'Hooowlloween Miller'. My card has a night sky background paper from my stash. I applied clear embossing ink around the edge of the paper and added Frantage Aged Ochre Embossing Powder. I love this range of embossing powders because they contain so many lovely colours in the fragments.
The Crescent Moon and Stars were cut from felt using a Tim Holtz Sizzix die. I inked the felt using Tea Stain Distress Ink. Flourishes were from Bella and I coloured the image with Copic markers before mounting it on the card front using foam tape.
Perhaps you could win some of the images I have used in my projects by entering the contest over at Betty's blog. Good luck x

13 Days of Halloween- Witching Hour

What would Halloween be without a witch? The witch I have used today is Betty's Boo-doir Halloween range- Witchy Mrs Boo. I needed to make her pop off the page for this project and so I chose to make a layered 'window' card using layers of acetate and foam tape. Each layer has pieces added to it to create a background such as a fence and flying bats.

I then attached the frame to card to make an easel card. The flourishes I had in my stash did not match the colours I had used on my card so these were coloured with Copics.
All paper and embellishments were distressed with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
Thank you for stopping by and looking at my creations.
You will find lots of Halloween inspiration over at:
where there are brilliant entries from everyone participating in The Princess of Halloween Challenge.

13 Days Of Halloween- Stop! Zombie Time!

As soon as I saw the digi image 'Marie Back from Death' in the Zombies and Creeps Collection at
http://simplybettystamps.net/
I had something in mind I would love to make with it. Having the task of creating a Zombie project for today got things underway.
Ages ago, I had found an old frame with a stained silk print at a swap meet for the bargain price of 50c and had bought it planning on creating something with the frame. 'Marie' gave me the idea to place her in the centre and create a zombie portrait.
I removed the print from the frame and covered the metal with a layer of black gesso. Next step was to rub silver Treasure Gold gilding wax over all the raised areas to highlight the pattern on the metal.
I coloured the image using Copic markers and the agieing in the background is my good old fav...Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I coloured gauze using Weathered Wood Distress Stain and glued it around the edge of the frame base to hide all the edges.

I hope some of you will be inspired to create your own Zombie project for today's challenge over at
http://simplybettystamps.blogspot.com.au/
Oh...and only eleven days until Halloween!!

13 Days of Halloween- Sexy and Scary Male Card

The card below is a Stepper Card I have made for the 13 Days of Halloween over at
http://simplybettystamps.blogspot.com.au/
I was enjoying embossing the other day and was having trouble deciding on just one folder to use for the last project and so used a Tim Holtz Halloween embossing folder for my background on this one.
I used Old Paper distress stain to colour white cardstock and then went to town distressing using Walnut Stain Distress Ink (the browns are my favourite!!)
I pulled out my Graveyard Scene Spellbinders dies and cut them out of grey cardstock before inking.
The sentiment and image I have used today are from Simply Betty Stamps range Betty BOO-doir 'Franken Babe Betty'. I coloured them using Copic markers and added a little bit of sparkle with Waterfall Stickles on her eyelids and a Red rhinestone for her earring.

13 Days of Halloween- Embossibilities

We are over the halfway point now with the 13 Days of Halloween over at
and I am busy ticking over new ideas and still having fun creating.
Today I have a card with an embossed background. The embossing folder I used was from Sizzix and featured Halloween words. After embossing the white card stock I covered the card in Distress Stains- Dusty Concord, Faded jeans and Broken China graduating the colours from lightest to darkest. I then distressed the embossing and edges with Walnut Stain ink before adding highlights with Treasure Gold Pewter gilding wax.
The image I have used is from Simply Betty Stamps and is 'Batty Jude' from the Teen Scene Halloween 2012 Collection of digis (the sentiment is also from this range). They are a great set of images and I have printed off others to use on some Halloween projects!
I coloured the image using my Copics and used foam tape to lift the image up off the embossed background.  The branches were from my stash of Prima goodies I had been saving for a Halloween project.

I continue to be amazed by all of the beautiful projects the contestants in the running for Princess Of Halloween come up with every few days and hope some of you are stopping by Betty's blog to have a look and maybe enter a contest!
Thanks for stopping by and thank you too for feedback on my projects for Halloween.

Simply Betty Stamps Give Away

This weekend on Simply Betty Stamps Facebook Page we were given a free image as part of the Halloween celebrations. Betty has promised us another image for next week. She is a very generous lady.
I must admit, this card was done quickly as I have been busy trying to get ahead with the week's entries for The Princess of Halloween but I hope you like it and are inspired to spend some time colouring up some of her great images.
There is a wonderful range available over at http://simplybettystamps.com/.

13 Days of Halloween- Use Halloween Colours

I seem to be on a roll at the moment with Steampunk images from Simply Betty Stamps. For today's card I have used is Bride of Frankenstein from Classic Collection 5. I used lots of Halloween colours- orange, purple, green and black and used papers from the latest range of Halloween papers from Graphic 45. I love the muted tones. The lace and black bling were from my stash and the flowers were from a Prima sprig. I coloured the image using Copic markers, distressing with Walnut Stain ink. The bling around the frame was made by cutting up a flourish to make it fit the image.
It is great to see a few more people entering the challenges over at :
Please keep stopping by as we are only reaching the halfway point for the 13 Days of Halloween.

13 Days of Halloween- Chocolate Box

Well, today's challenge over at  http://simplybettystamps.blogspot.com.au/ is to create a candy holder or treat bag. I chose to make a chocolate box and of course, had to buy myself a box of chocolates to fill it!!
The image I used is 'Jack and Jill' from the 2012 Steampunk Line at Simply Betty Stamps. I coloured it using my Copic markers and inked around the edge of the image with Walnut Stain Distress Ink once I had cut it out. I made the box out of a piece of 12x12 card- next to no waste! The papers I used to decorate it were from MME Lost and Found Halloween collection again. I love this pack and have continued to find ways to use it as both sides have great designs.
Making my box just a little bit creepy, I added a bony hand from one of my Halloween swaps. I hope you like it.

13 Days of Halloween- Mummy Loves You

One of my favourite New Halloween images from the Betty Boo Halloween Collection is 'Who's Your Mummy Betty'. She is gorgeous! I was unsure of what to make using her as I felt a need to try something other than a card. I found a glass container in a $2 shop to use as the base for a candy jar. It is decorated with paper, gauze and of course the Simply Betty Stamps image and it's caption. I tied gauze and skull ribbon to the hanger .

The gauze is coloured using a light touch of Walnut Stain Distress ink to take away some of the starkness. Yummo, all ready now for Halloween treats!

13 Days of Halloween- Boo! Did I Scare You?

Today I have created a pop up box card using 'Little Owl Oscar' from Jude Little Trickster's digi collection over at Simply Betty Stamps. I used this digi earlier in the month on my banner but really love it. This time I coloured it with small flicks to represent feathers on the owl costume using Copic markers. I added sticker pumpkins and stars behind the image by first placing them on strips of acetate using tape. Other embellishments included some paper fall leaves from one of Betty's famous craft swaps, ribbon and a chipboard caption. I used paper from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found- Halloween. Paprika Stickles on the chipboard piece helped  tie it in with the glitter on this paper range.

If you feel like getting a few things made for Halloween and be in the running for a terrific prize why not pop on over to http://simplybettystamps.blogspot.com.au/ ? There is lots of inspiration from all of the contestants who are part of the 13 Days of Halloween.

13 Days of Halloween- Blood Curdling Card

Today's challenge over at Simply Betty Stamps is to create a card using blood effects. I chose the Steampunk digi image from the Robert's Halloween Digi Collection- Christian Count Drac. Hard to resist a vampire image!
I really love to combine some old effects with the steampunk images and I have a big collection of old books I like to tear apart and use for backgrounds. I find the paper is often lovely and thick and holds inks and dyes really well. Sometimes it is a little hard to adhere though as the fibres in the paper come away. I started by inking the edges of the book paper with Walnut Stain distress ink. I used Red Velvet Glimmermist to create a blood effect.
I coloured the image using Copic markers and came in from the edges of the paper with the distress stain again before mounting the image on black cardstock.
The bat embellishments were from the Cricut cartridge Happy Hauntings- a must cartridge for Halloween fans and my other embellishments were silk bias tape coloured black using my Copic marker and a bat brad my stash. I kept this one fairly simple rather than detract from the blood effects. Let me know what you think.

Don't forget you can enter the competition over at http://simplybettystamps.blogspot.com.au/
There are great prizes and lots of inspiration from everyone in the running for Princess of Halloween.

!3 Days of Halloween- Steampunk Challenge

I love Steampunk and had fun creating this stepper card for the challenge over at Simply Betty Stamps. The background for my stamps was made by embossing foil covered card with a Docraft's triboss cog folder. I then covered this in gesso and once dry covered the surface with alcohol inks. I let some of the foil show through by sanding the card once it had dried again (with the help of my heat gun!!) The clock is the Tim Holtz 'Weathered Clock' and in front of the dyed gauze there is a Memory Box Cogs die. Both have been distressed using a range of Treasure Gold gilding waxes. To attach the gauze and cog die I used small brads to avoid glue. The sentiment was coloured with Distress stain and the edges inked. I curved the sentiment to make it look like old paper too.
The Steampunk Witch image is coloured using Copic markers and I used a double layer of foam tape to lift her off the card front.

The image and sentiment are from Simply Betty Stamps - 'Steampunk Witch'. Pop over to the blog now to see all of the other amazing entries in the !3 Days of Halloween Challenge at:

Halloween Banner- Simply Betty Stamps 13 Days of Halloween

It was very exciting news to find out I was a contestent in the Running for Princess of Halloween over at Simply Betty Stamps Blog. The project for the 1st of October was to create a Halloween Banner. I chose to use Digi Images from Betty's Jude Little Tricksters range.

I began by cutting out pennant shapes from black cardstock and then added Lost and Found Halloween papers which were slightly smaller. The edges were inked with Black Soot Distress Ink.
I used the Cricut cartridge 'Fanciful Frames' to make the orange and black frames on each pennant. They are embellished with black gems. The white centres for each frame are embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder featuring cobwebs. I used pop dots to adhere the images and lift them off the paper after colouring them with my Copics and then fussy cutting. The top of each pennant has a strip of paper added to the top which was shaped using an EK Success Moroccan Die.I put twine through these strips and tied pieces of tulle between each pennant. The Spooky lettering is from the Cricut cartridge Happy Hauntings using the Spooky font.

Little Owl Oscar

 Little Dragon Jude

 Little Wizard Ariel

Ali Mummy

Please check by over the month and see what else I have made for the competition and check out all of the other great entries over at:

Valentine Swap

It has been a year since my first swap through Simply Betty Stamps Facebook page. As always, Betty generously gave us an image to use for our swap. Our mission was to decorate a wine box and then fill it with crafting goodies. I was fortunate to have Miss Emily Shroom again as my swap buddy. She made me a beautiful box and it was stuffed to the brim with lots of yummy embellishments including charms, buttons (especially loved the vintage ones), ribbon and flowers. Other items were stamps including one of Betty's rubber stamps of Rio, chalks, rub ons, butterflies and OWLS. Emily also gave me a terrific card that some of you may have seen as she won a challenge with it (Lucky me!) I am going to have so much fun using everything. Thank you so much, Emily!
Now to see what everyone else received from their swap buddy. Here is the hop list for you to follow.

Rio's Sweet Sixteenth

Betty's daughter, Rio will be celebrating her 16th birthday really soon. A group of us from the Simply Betty Stamps Facebook Group were asked to create a card for her using a beautiful Steampunk image.

I tried to make my card grungy and used the W series of Copic markers to colour it. I added a minimum amount of colour using Prismacolor pencils in green, ochre and maroon.
The die cut image was inked with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink as were the two punched borders (Martha Stewart's scroll and lattice punches). The background is a piece of vintage bookpaper.
Other embellishments include Flourish With A Bling pearls , ribbon, paper flowers and leaves made with a nifty set I bought at my local craft store- one punch for the leaves and then an embossing punch to add the veins. With a quick brush over of ink these look great. I can't help anyone with the brand because there wasn't one on them.
My daughter, Ashleigh, is also 16 and so I asked her to include a little something in the card for Rio. She love Manga and is always drawing. Here is a photo of her wacky turtle.

I love her creations and how her drawing style is developing. Make sure you leave her a comment I can show her if you like her artwork.

Now, to wish Rio a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I hope you like your card and little gifts. Have a terrific year of fun and laughs x

Have fun seeing everyone else's cards for Rio's special day.
