Cream and Sugar Challenge at Polkadoodles

There is a new challenge at Polkadoodles starting today- Cream and Sugar. You can enter here.
Looking forward to seeing lots of gorgeous cream, pink, brown and white coloured creations.
I was torn between so many of the collections at the Polkadoodles store this week. I decided to make another cat creation using the new Work and Play 12 collection. It is available as a CD or digital download. You can also buy the cat as a digi download here.
I coloured the cat using Prismacolors. The sentiment and flowers are from the Work and Play 12 collection too and the Wooden paper is from Work and Play 10- Country Life. I have already used this collection so much.

All elements have been inked with Brushed Corduroy distress Ink.
I have used two sets of Spellbinders dies- Beaded Circles and Foliage.
Pearls, twine and Pink bling are from my stash.
I think I will keep this card for my Mum's birthday.
Absolutely loving playing with this collection!
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Easter, Jackie x

Journalling Cards for Bizzy Bec's Store

I have a shoebox full of holiday snaps all printed and ready to create Lifebook pages with. I have lots of Lifebook journaling cards too but I really wanted to create some from scratch to make some special pages.
Darkroom Door have some great location rubber stamp sets and for the one's shown below, I used the NewYork collection found here.

To make this card, I started with a piece of watercolour paper (6''x4'') and placed a Tim Holtz star stencil on it then dabbed over the stars with my clear embossing inkpad. Remove the stencil and sprinkle clear embossing powder on the ink. Tap off excess and heat paper to melt the powder. Spray with Distress Sprays in Candied Apple and Faded Jeans (the stains would work just as well and Bec stocks these in store- please contact the store here to see if she can get the stencil or sprays in for you.)

This card is on watercolour paper and I stamped the image with Black Archival Ink before colouring using my Distress Inks. I use an acrylic stamping block as my palette and stamp colour onto it for painting with using a water brush or paintbrush and water.

These two cards were made by stamping the dark image first using Archival Ink. I then loaded up my acrylic block withal the other little stamps in the set before removing the one used for the first print. Load up the stamps with ink again, stamp first on scrap paper and then stamp on the journaling card. The image will be light enough to write over (that's my plan!) I lightly rubbed brushed corduroy ink over the cards once I had distressed the edges.
Now to make time to put together some Life Book pages for New York.
I hope I have given you a few ideas,
Happy Crafting, Jackie x

Use WarmColours Challenge- TTPH

One of my favourite materials to use in paperwork is old book pages. I love their thickness and they are so cheap. My husband is used to me scouring fetes and book stalls running my hands over the pages...he is even a pretty good look out for me!!
Well, when I saw this magical  digi from Fabrica Fantasy  called Wise Dragon The perfect background had to be...you guessed it!
I coloured my dragon in warm colours to keep with the challenge theme and used Copic Markers for my colouring- lightly brushing a beige shade over each object to keep a warm hue. I added orange Spica Pen to make my dragon sparkle and the pieces were all edged with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. Paper, charms and ribbon were all from my stash- I have lots of orange scraps due to my Halloween addiction!!

I hope you will play along with the new challenge at Through The Purple Haze and pull out your warm colours.
Thanks for stopping by, Jackie x

Work and Play 12 Tags-Polkadoodles

There are some great new digital collections at Polkadoodles this month including another Work and Play Collection. I have been playing with the Inventor image and made some tags for my bargain $3 vase in the shape of a chemistry flask...how perfect was that find? I think I may have to get some more and fill them with sweets for some of my Science loving friends.
These tags were easy to make with the design sheets from the collection, some distress ink, foamtape and glossy accents. A nice quick and effective project.

Gorjuss Card for Bizzy Becs

March is the start ofa new challenge at Bizzy Bec's Challenge Blog and there lots of new, scrummy products to check out in the store!
I wanted to challenge myself to try something new and so stamped out the Gorjuss Girl image using Archival Ink on heavy 300gsm watercolour paper- I like thick paper as it doesn't warp too much.
I used a water brush and distress ink to colour the image. I just put some colour on an acrylic block and picked it up using the water brush. I kept a heat gun handy to dry patches of the picture as I worked so the colours didn't run.
The image was cut out using the Memory Box Stitched Circles Layer Dies.
Other items from the store I used include:

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you enter the challenge with your creations- Bec always has a great prize up for grabs!
